A trip to Elmhurst-Chow

Late last month, on an unnaturally warm and sunny 65 degree day, a dear friend and I made a wonderful discovery in downtown Elmhurst. It's a small place called Chow, modeled after Geneva's A Moveable Feast. We walked in and knew immediately that it was something special, perhaps what clued us in was the smell of freshly baked snickerdoodles wafting through the air, or the fact that all their sandwiches were made with Boar's Head deli meats.

We debated over what to order, and ended up splitting a Cajin turkey sandwich with pepper jack cheese and some kind of fabulous homemade mayo, served on their fresh multi grain bread. For dessert, I sampled a tiny (only $1) Red Velvet cupcake with delectable cream cheese frosting, and the most incredible snickerdoodle cookie I've ever had. K got a macaroon and ended up buying another one to take home.

Their were small tables in the windows, each with a bright flower arrangement to add color and fun to the atmosphere. We didn't want to leave, but the lovely little boutiques and the warm sunshine was calling.
